FROM THOMAS HAWKSLEY, Esq., F. R. S., &c., &c., PRESIDENT OF THE INSTITUTION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS.
30, GREAT GEORGE STREET,
WESTMINSTER, August 19th, 1872.
MY LORDS AND GENTLEMEN,
I have much pleasure in adding my testimony to Mr. Filliter's in support of
Mr. Danby's application for the appointment now vacant of the "Surveyor of Bridges for the
North Riding of the County of York." I believe Mr. Danby to be well qualified for the office;
he is an excellent surveyor, draughtsman, and engineer, and is a steady and attentive worker.
As the Senior Engineer of the Leeds Waterworks, now constructing in the Wharf
Valley, I have had numerous opportunities of noticing Mr. Danby, of whom I have formed a
very favourable opinion.
I am,
My Lords and Gentlemen,
Your most obedient Servant,
T. HAWKSLEY.
The Justices of the North Riding of the County of York.
